Well-known and respected name in the field of wildlife healthcare and animal husbandry in the country for the last five decades.
Dr Navin Kumar is with a Bachelor degree (BVSc) in Veterinary Science along with a Post Graduate Diploma offered by Zoological Society of London (London Zoo and Whipsnade Wild Animal Park) passed with distinction and certificate of merit in 1991.
Started as Assistant Veterinary Surgeon in Animal Husbandry Department in the state of Andhra Pradesh in 1975.
Has meritorious twenty plus years (1985 to 2006) of experience as Zoo Veterinarian (retired as Deputy Director) with Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh (India). Continued as Consultant with Nehru Zoological Park up to 2019.
Also worked with Laboratory for Conservation of Endangered Species (LaCONES), Hyderabad (2010 to 2017) assisting in sedating wild animals, electro-ejaculation for semen collection, DNA finger printing, cryopreservation, assisted reproduction and cloning of endangered wild animal species.
Helped creation of Exotic Birds Park in Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad.
Had been on the panel of experts of the Central Zoo Authority, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India from 1997 to 2019 for evaluation and monitoring of Indian zoos.
Also working as consultant with various governments and private organizations dealing with wildlife including Sri Venkateshwara Zoological Park, Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh); Indira Gandhi Zoological Park, Visakhapatnum (Andhra Pradesh); Tata Zoo, Jamshedpur (Jharkhand); Bird Park, Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad (Telangana).
He has also been member of the Telangana State Zoo Authority and Telangana State Wildlife Board for long.
