Civil Engineer par excellence, Dr K M Soni holds a Bachelor and a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Bhopal and also a PhD in Civil Engineering (on ‘Constitutive Modelling of Reinforced Soil’) from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi. He has also done a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM)/Master of Business Management (MBA) in Operation Management, in addition to a Certificate Course in ‘Rural Environment Management’ from University of Wales, United Kingdom.
He has a work experience of thirty-six years in Built Environment in Central Public Works Department (CPWD), Government of India, where he started as an Assistant Executive Engineer and retired at the esteemed designation of Additional Director General, CPWD in 2019. During his service carrier with the CPWD, he is known to have handled a large number of very prestigious projects across India and even abroad. He played a significant role in the renovation and remodelling of the National Zoological Park, New Delhi during his long stint with Civil Construction Unit (CCU) of Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India. Dr. Soni has regularly represented Civil Construction Unit (CCU) in Expert Group on Zoo Designing meetings of the Central Zoo Authority, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India.
His publications include over 150 technical papers and articles in various journals and presentations made at numerous conferences/seminars/symposia in his field of specialization. He holds the distinctive credit of compilation of more than two dozen official publications on behalf of the Central Public Works Department, Government of India which continue to contribute extensively in the framing as well as implementation of policies, principles and procedures for the planning and execution of civil works worldwide.
Dr Soni’s core skills include planning, estimation, monitoring, execution, project management, geo-technical investigation, construction management, contract management and maintenance related to civil works. He is the recipient of many awards for meritorious performances and contribution for the successful execution of very high-profile national and international projects. Also, been awarded life memberships of many renowned councils and societies in India and across the globe.
