An expert scientist and veterinarian of international recognition, having MVSc and PhD degrees in veterinary medicine. Served as Head, Division of Medicine and Scientist-in-Charge ‘Centre for Wildlife Conservation, Management and Disease Surveillance’ at Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Bareilly (UP) for more than 8 years. Internationally recognized in field of Ethno-Veterinary Medicines and Wildlife Healthcare. Has 200 plus publications to his credit. Worked as the National Coordinator of the Central Zoo Authority sponsored National Referral Centre for Wildlife Health Care (2007-10), and also as Principal Investigator in the Central Zoo Authority sponsored project on ‘Developing standards, guidelines, and protocol on disease diagnosis and care of wild animals in Indian zoos’. Regularly represented Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Bareilly in Governing Body and Technical Committee meetings of the Central Zoo Authority. Has been the Chairman/ Member of several Committees and Boards including, Member of Expert Group on Wildlife Health Management and Welfare (MoEF&C, GOI), National Gharial Crisis Management Group (MoEF&C, GOI), and State Zoo Health Advisory Committee (UP and Uttarakhand).
